Saving lotsa money here, then back to Ontario for Father's Day.

Where are we today ?
Here we are in Caledonia New York after Saturdays wedding. Up bright and early walkabouts , computing and coffees. Chat with Barb, Bill and a few others from the wedding last nights, gonna be an great day for weather. After our goodbyes, secured the coach and on the road by 9 am only 188 miles today.
188 miles today
Now before crossing the border we stopped at Smokin' Joes to fill our coach and car again with gas. Want to get all the cheap fuel we can before heading back to Canada. Now to show you how much we saved here is the numbers, a total of 77 US gallons of gas, at $3.61 a gallon, That converts to $1.00 per Litre at a 5 % exchange rate. 77 Gallons  equals 291 litres . Gas in Ontario is $1.40 a litre today so we saved  .40 x 291 or $116.42  by filling up here this weekend. Then bought 30 cans of Beer fro $19.99 and 1.78 litres of whiskey for $14.99. = 34. 98, Compared to $96.00 in Ontario another savings of $62.00. a savings of about $180.00 just for having all this fun here with friends.
Crossing back at The Queenston/ Lewiston bridge traffic lined up all the way across the bridge , but it was moving steady only about a 15 minute total wait to fly through customs, no problems.

customs moving quickly
Heading to Daughter number ones place in Aurora. Passed Canada's Wonderland, perfect day for it too.
Arrived at my cousins place to park our coach about 2 pm. Inside to chat for a while then over to visit my daughter, the three grands and my son was there as well.
My Father's Day gift, perfect!
Son Ken and two of the grands
I got to sit on his bike , but was not really dressed to take it for a spin. I do have my motorcycle license. If I had known would have brought a change of clothes. Its been w while and the urge is still there.

weeeeee!
Enjoying a wonderful afternoon
Then a very tasty meal of salads and grilled Bison burgers really hit the spot.
Amazing how fast time goes when having fun with family. Soon getting dark and head the two miles back to our coach and call it a night.
Glad you could catch up with us for a bit, because we heading out again in the morning for Peterborough Ontario. Come on along and join in the fun.

  3. Hm, nice looking bike. And I'm not even much of a "bike" guy. Too bad you didn't have the proper clothes.

  5. Nice savings on the gas and alcohol! Someone did a run to the States over the weekend and asked if we wanted anything brought back, so she is returning with our favourite cheese.

Glad you had a fun time with your children and grandchildren yesterday!

  6. Those were worthy savings. We do pay more for living north of the 49th.....but we also benefit from a substantially smaller population, in a far bigger land mass, with many benefits that our American friends would relish.

That was a nice Father's day get together.

    1. Not wearing my shorts while on a motorcycle, too old for that and a bit smarter I hope.

    2. When I was in high school I rented a 90cc Honda and took my then girlfriend for a ride. At the last reunion she showed me the scar on her leg where I dumped the bike on her while she was on the seat behind me in her bathing suit. At least she still liked me. Young and foolish!

  9. It's hard to believe you saved that much on just three things. I knew it was more expensive in Canada but didn't realize it was so significant. I assume the difference is mostly Canadian taxes.

    1. Taxes in Canada are very high, fuel and alcohol in particular even campsites are very expensive too.
